Elastic bandages are a medical product specially used for surgical explosion care. In daily life, we often suffer from trauma to our bodies due to bumps and bruises. When dealing with these injuries, in addition to using medical alcohol and disinfectant cotton, we also need a very important thing, that is, elastic bandages. We often use this item, so we must understand the precautions for the use of elastic bandages.
1. Use bandages of different widths according to different parts. Generally, small elastic bandages (7.5X450cm wide) are used for the upper limbs, medium elastic bandages (10X450cm wide) are used below the knees, and large elastic bandages (15*450cm wide) are used above the knees; the method of bandaging depends on the purpose of use. The elastic bandage used to support circulation should support the veins, offset the increased venous pressure, and not be too high to limit venous return or arterial blood supply.
2. The elastic bandage must be flat and wrinkle-free after bandaging, especially in the joints. After the knee joint moves, the bandage is prone to wrinkles, which puts pressure on the popliteal fossa, just like a tourniquet. The tightness of the wrapping should also be appropriate, and the degree of comfort should be determined after the bandage. The elastic bandage should be applied before getting up every morning. If the patient has already gotten up, the patient should be allowed to lie back in bed, raise the limbs, empty the venous blood, and then bandage again.
3. The bandage should start from the feet and gradually wrap upwards until the required height. During the bandaging process, the two adjacent layers of elastic bandages should overlap by about two-thirds, otherwise it will not be easy to flatten after the bandage. Remove it before going to bed every night.
4. During the use of the elastic bandage, the color of the limb skin and the swelling of the affected limb should be observed every day to observe its effect. Patients with varicose veins of the lower limbs who are treated non-surgically should use elastic bandages every day for a long time; patients with deep vein thrombosis must use elastic bandages for at least 3 months, or even for life, whether during the restricted activity period or after starting activities, to protect the valve function of the superficial veins and communicating veins and reduce or eliminate symptoms.
Elastic bandages are a special elastic bandage that can prevent and help eliminate edema and varicose veins of the lower limbs.
