Since the outbreak of this round of large-scale Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the 7th of this month, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has intensified. On the 28th, Palestinian President Abbas issued a statement calling on Arab leaders to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and ensure the smooth entry of humanitarian aid supplies in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian President Abbas said in a statement on the 28th that Israel has not only failed to comply with the relevant UN ceasefire resolutions, but also continues to expand the scale of ground military operations in the Gaza Strip, and the international community must take responsibility to ensure the smooth entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Ghazi Hamad, a member of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), called on the international community, especially Arab and Islamic countries, to immediately implement the UN General Assembly resolution and deliver fuel, humanitarian supplies and medical supplies to civilians in the Gaza Strip, at a press conference held in the Lebanese capital Beirut on the 28th. It also called for the urgent delivery and distribution of aid piled up on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing to all areas of the Gaza Strip and to hospitals. Hamad also warned that expanding the scale of Israeli air and ground operations could lead to a humanitarian disaster.

The emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on the 27th, calling on the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to immediately implement a durable and sustained humanitarian truce to facilitate the cessation of hostilities. The resolution stresses the need to prevent further deterioration of the situation and escalation of violence in the region, and to achieve a just and lasting solution based on relevant UN resolutions, international law and the two-State solution.
