A Bell 505 helicopter with four tourists on board crashed in Quang Ninh province in northern Vietnam in the afternoon, the Vietnam News agency reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of Defense. The helicopter, belonging to the North Vietnamese Helicopter Company, was carrying tourists overlooking Ha Long Bay, a popular tourist attraction, the report said. The helicopter took off that afternoon and lost contact with the ground.
The Vietcong News Agency reported on Saturday that the identities of the four passengers on the crashed helicopter have been confirmed. They are all from Da Nang city, including three women and one man. As of 2330 local time on the 5th, search and rescue teams have found the bodies of three victims, including the pilot, one woman and two men.
According to the report, the Vietnamese government has asked relevant departments and localities to coordinate, mobilize forces and rescue equipment, and carry out rapid and effective search and rescue work.
