According to Reuters, Iran sent a letter to the United Nations on Wednesday, saying that US President Donald Trump had made "reckless and inflammatory remarks" and threatened to use force. In response, Iran warned that "any aggression will have serious consequences".

According to Reuters, Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, sent a letter to the UN Security Council on the 11th, in which he quoted Trump's interview with the New York Post and Fox News. Trump has said he would rather strike a deal to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons than bomb it. Iravani said in the letter that "these reckless and inflammatory remarks are a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations."

Iravani added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is warning that any aggression will have serious consequences for which the United States will bear full responsibility." Iran will resolutely defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests against any hostile action."

In addition, in response to Trump's "maximum pressure" on Iran last week, Iravani also said in the letter that the US policy "intensifies illegal unilateral coercive measures and intensifies hostilities against Iran." Iravani urged the UN Security Council to condemn Trump's remarks.

Before meeting with visiting Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump signed a presidential memorandum on the 4th, deciding to restart the "maximum pressure" series of measures against Iran implemented during his first term as president, including the measure to suppress the scale of the latter's oil exports to "zero," in order to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Reuters also mentioned that Trump had previously expressed his willingness to speak with Iranian President Pezehizyan, but Pezehizyan on the 10th questioned his sincerity.
